GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE CHINTURU

The Department of Economics was established in 2018, offering a B.A. degree with a combination of History, Economics, and Political Science. Since then it operates within the premises of Government Junior College, Chinturu, Alluri Sitarama Raju District. Supported by a team of dedicated and qualified faculty, the department initially had one sanctioned teaching position and is affiliated with Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.

The primary goal of the department is to provide high-quality education in Economics to local students at the undergraduate level. To enhance learning beyond classrooms, the Department of Economics organizes co-curricular activities such as seminars, guest lectures, and field visits.

As part of the NEP-2020 initiative, starting from 2023, the Department of Economics offers a B.A. Economics (Honours) Single Major program under the UG degree program, admitting 40 students annually. Admission to the Single Major Programme is based on merit through an online admission process conducted by APSCHE, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
